A wave of environment awareness and a series of positive actions spread in the air on the day of WED (World Environment Day). WED is celebrated every year on June 5, for the purpose of making people realize that how precious our Mother Earth is and so, we all should take measures to reduce the damage that has been caused to it or at least stop doing any further. And more importantly, that every bit counts and we all should perform our part rather than thinking that this all is the responsibility of some international governmental organization.

Do you want to know that how did it started? United Nations is basically the country that gave birth to this wonderful concept. It started this movement in order to raise the level of awareness and to initiate action for the protection of our environment. Such a great thinking!! Now, as the years have rolled down, it has grown into a broad, global platform for the public in over 100 countries who be a part of this event and pledge that they would all do their part in caring and nurturing the Earth.

Planet Earth is our shared island; let us join forces to protect it. Its main purpose is to serve as a day for doing something positive for our environment, galvanizing (making tremendous) individual actions into a collective power that generates an exponential positive impact on the planet. It is a glorious opportunity for everybody to not only realizes their responsibility towards Earth, but also to become agents of change.

So, now the most important question comes, what should I do in order to contribute? One most important thing to do is to raise the level of awareness among your neighbors, friends, colleagues at office, relatives or even among strangers (if you find them doing anything that is injurious to environment’s health). So, buckle up your shoes and whether organize a cleanup campaign, or start doing walk-to-work days (in order to save energy). Or, else you can participate in tree-planting drives, social media campaigns and such different concerts that are based on this theme. You can even join a group of people, who are trying to generate knowledge about ‘food waste reduction’ or ‘saving of water’.

When multiplied by a global chorus, our individual voices and actions become exponential in its impact. So, start now!
